A labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool used for a walking meditation. Labyrinths date back more than 4000 years. They reemerged in today’s world as a symbol for the spiritual journey and provide an avenue for transformation and rejuvenation. The labyrinth’s circular design is unicursal, which means there is only one path winding in to the centre and the same path out, therefore the thinking mind is not engaged. The spiral pattern is based on sacred geometry and provides a balance for the human psyche and the soul. Walking a labyrinth allows individuals to experience inner silence, harmony, and insight. There is no right or wrong way to walk a labyrinth and each experience is unique to the individual.
Susan co-facilitates labyrinth walks at the Centre for Spiritual Living. The labyrinth at the Centre is in-laid on the sanctuary floor and is a replica of the medieval 11 circuit labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France. Labyrinth walks are open to the public on the first Friday of every month (except July and August) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A labyrinth dance is held from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m.
